You can nominate a candidate for any award using the following Nomination form

Please make sure you provide:

  • The name of the nominee
  • The award being nominated for
  • Email, Telephone, website/facebook URL for the nominee (so that we may verify and inform them of nomination)

 

We will then contact the nominee to tell them that they have been nominated. Remember to inform the candidate that she/she/it has been nominated so that they can campaign for votes.

GETTING NOMINATED FOR AN AWARD

If you would like to be nominated for an award, please ask someone do to it for you using the form (links above and below). Your name will appear on the list of nominees for that award. Please let us know if there are any mistakes in your nomination, such as spellings, or if we have put you under the wrong award, or if your name doesn’t appear at all.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR AN AWARD?

Q: Do you have to live in the UK to be eligible?
A: All nominees for all awards in which voting takes place, apart from those labelled ‘International’ and with the exception of human rights worker of the year, must be resident in the UK for 6 months of the year or more.

Q: Do you have to be Latin American, Spanish or Portuguese to be eligible?
A:You DO NOT have to be either Latin American, Spanish or Portuguese to be eligible for an award. We welcome people of all backgrounds who have embraced these cultures, especially the many non-Latinos who, out of sheer passion, have dedicated years to diffusing or delivering a particular aspect of Latin American, Spanish or Portuguese culture. We believe that being Latino is as much a state of mind as it is about blood, land or nationality. So whatever background you are from, everyone is welcome. It’s the passion and quality that counts.

Criteria for nomination for Music Acts of the Year:

    1.    All music acts and artists must have produced either 1 album, 2 mixtapes or 3 singles in the last 18 months.
    2.    All music acts and artists must have performed 6 times of more in last 12 months.
    3.    All music acts and artists must have either website or facebook/ bandcamp/myspace/soundcloud page.

Criteria for nominations for Dance Performers of the Year

    1.    All dance performers must have performed at least 12 shows in the last year.
    2.    All dance performers must have either a website or Facebook(fan Page)/MySpace pages.

Criteria for nomination for DJs of the Year

    1.    All DJs must have been be resident in at least two parties a month for the last year OR
    2.    Have performed at 12 individual events in the last year
    3.    All DJs must have either a website or Facebook (Fan Page)/MySpace or Soundcloud page

Criteria for nomination of Dance Teachers of the Year (Tango, Tropical, Brazilian, Kizomba, Zumba)

    1.    All Teachers must be offering classes at least twice a week
    2.    All teachers must have a website or Facebook (Fan Page) page

Criteria for Dance Schools

    1.    All schools must be companies registered by guarantee and have a registered address

Criteria for nomination for Personality of the Year

 1.    The Personality should be an ambassador for the community or sector of the community and have achieved recognition in their area of work.

2.     In addition, The Personality should have transcended their field and the community, through their activity, and be succesful in representing the community at a 'broader society' level through the respect and recognition they've received beyond their community.

Criteria for nomination of Community organization/worker of the Year

    1.    The community organization/worker will have shown dedication to the advancement of the Latin American, Spanish or Portuguese community in the UK or an aspect of those communities for at least 2 years.

Criteria for nomination of  Charity/ Human rights Organization/worker of the Year

    1.    The organization or worker will have shown dedication to the advancement of human rights, peace and justice and/or the alleviation of poverty either in Latin America, Spain or Portugal or in those communities in the UK, for at least 2 years.

Criteria for nomination of Restaurants of the Year

    1.    The restaurant has to have been open since March 2013
    2.    If a restaurant has more than two restaurants in the UK it will be eligible for the Restaurant Group of the Year, not award specific to the regional cuisine.
    3.    The 5 restaurants that are chosen by the public to be among the finalists will be required to invite 3 judges for a meal for two at the restaurant during the month of March, at no charge to the judge or The LUKAS, in order to relay their decision to the LUKAS. The judges or the LUKAS will ring to make an appointment with each restaurant. If your restaurant reaches the final round, please provide us with a contact name and number to enable them to make this booking. The judges will list the restaurants they visited in order of preference from 1 to 5, givinng reasons for their decision, and this will be converted into percentage to be added to the percentage earned from popular vote.

 The judges will also write up a combined review of each restaurant which will be published on www.latinolife.co.uk (1,500 average daily hits) and publish in the newsletter (40,000 subscribers) so the visits will serve for this purpose also. Latinolife will also use the reviews for a 'Best of Latin Eating in London' special edition of its printed magazine.
